Muscle tear treatment

A muscle is made up of many muscle fibers (muscle cells), which build up the muscle belly itself. Each muscle fiber is surrounded by fascia, a bundle of muscle fibers is then bundled together with a slightly thicker fascia around the bundle and finally there is an even thicker fascia around the whole muscle (several bundles together). A muscle is thus a collection of muscle cells with fascia in different structures woven around all cells and grouping the muscle fibers into bundles.
A muscle tear rarely means that only muscle fibers break, but also that the fascia around the damaged fibers will be damaged. Therefore, the name muscle tear is misleading and should instead be called myofascia tear or myofascia injury. The tear can also be located only in the fascia around the muscle.
What causes a muscle tear?
When you get a muscle rupture or as it is also called, muscle rupture, some or many muscle fibers break off, they rupture. In the worst case, an entire muscle rupture but it is not so common. Since there is fascia in and around the entire muscle, the fascia will also be damaged.
The cause of muscle rupture may be due to the muscle being put under more strain than it is trained for. A muscle works by contracting and all muscles work together with a fine balance. Some contract more, while others have to give in and resist to get smooth, well-balanced movements. This means that some muscles have to elongate, stretch out while resisting a movement, known as eccentric work. If this happens too suddenly or if certain muscle groups are not sufficiently trained and strong, muscle fibers can be pulled, the muscle gets a too sudden stretch. This often happens during sudden braking and changes of direction from high speed.
Muscle damage can also occur due to a trauma, such as a heavy blow. This usually does not result in a tear but rather a crushing or squeezing injury with bruising and hematoma (bleeding and fluid accumulation).
Why do I get muscle tears?
You’ve probably done work that you weren’t really trained for, or you’ve warmed up too poorly, so that your muscles and fascia haven’t had time to warm up, before doing more intense fast work. A fast, explosive movement where the nervous system, muscle fibers and fascia can’t keep up. You may also have repeated a movement too much and for too long, causing muscle fatigue and increasing the risk of injury.
Symptoms of muscle tear?
There is a sudden onset of pain as soon as the injury occurs. After that, the function is disturbed, it is difficult to move and load the muscle, depending on how big the injury is, how many fibers and how much fascia is damaged. If there are fewer fibers damaged, the pain may come after the exercise / work is completed. Even then, the muscle loses strength and may hurt when moving/loading. There may be bleeding, the injured area will swell and a bruise may appear after a few hours.
Muscle tear during pregnancy
Hormones make the fascia in and around the muscles softer and less stable. This can make it easier to cause muscle tears.
When and where should I seek treatment for muscle tears?
The FasciaClinics can help you bring your body into balance so that the load on joints, muscles and fascia structures is more even, promoting healing and not overloading structures. Treatment gets the flow going to the injured area so that healing is accelerated. It is important to quickly start targeted movement training that does not overload the injury.
How is the treatment of a muscle tear done?
Analysis of the body’s balance and correction of imbalances can be helped by a FasciaClinic.. Relief of the injured area to relieve excess pressure. Vibrations get the flow going in the fascia so that slag is cleared away and healing is optimized.
Muscle tear – What can I do myself?
Exercise gently with targeted exercises for about six minutes every six hours. Take supplements of hydrolyzed collagen plus vitamin C, about half to one hour before exercise.
Do not overload the injured area and do not obliquely load the body so that you get new compensatory injuries.
Exercises for muscle tears?
It is important to start moving as soon as possible after the injury. On day two at the latest. How to train during rehabilitation depends on how and where the injury is located. In general, it can be said that light loading in the directions that the respective muscle, fascia works normally is good to perform so that the cells are informed how the tissue should be rebuilt.
